COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF THE PETROGLYPHS OF KHAMYSHEYSKY STONE WITH ELEMENTS OF THE SIGN SYSTEMS OF THE ADYGHE-ABKHAZ PEOPLES

The article is devoted to the Khamysheysky Stone, an archaeological monument on the territory of the Republic of Adygea, discovered by archaeologists in the second half of the 20th century. Analyzing sources regarding such monuments revealed that there are very few works in Russian historiography dedicated to the connection between epigraphic monuments in the North-Western Caucasus and the elements of ancestral sign systems of the Adyghe-Abkhaz peoples. This determines the relevance of this study as a new area at the intersection of archaeology, ethnography, and history. In this article, the petroglyphs of the Khamysheysky Stone are considered in comparison with the signs found in the territories of the Meots, the Bosporan Kingdom, the Sarmatians, as well as the Saltovo-Mayak archaeological culture. For the first time, the author attempts to classify signs by comparative analysis based on graphic similarity and comparing them with the system of generic signs of the Adyghe-Abkhazians. The T-shaped and cross-shaped attributes in the outlines of generic symbols are considered as apotropaic elements associated with the religious beliefs of the Adygs and the worship of the cult of the Tau symbol. Conclusions are drawn about the similarity of petroglyphs on the Khamysheysky Stone with signs belonging to earlier archaeological cultures, as well as their graphic identity with elements of ancestral sign systems of Adyghe-Abkhaz peoples.

FORMATION OF THE KOMSOMOL ORGANIZATION IN KARACHAY-CHERKESS/KARACHAY AUTONOMOUS REGIONS (1920S)

The article highlights the initial stage of the history of the Komsomol organization in the Karachay-Cherkess (1922-1926) and Karachay (1926-1943) Autonomous Regions. The purpose of the study is to identify and describe the specifics of the formation of the RKSM structures in one of the national regions of the North Caucasus in the 1920s. To achieve this goal, the authors used, first of all, chronological, synchronistic, comparative historical, and genetic methods. The results of the study suggest that, despite certain difficulties related to both organizational issues and the peculiarities of worldview in a traditional society, already in the mid-1920s, it was possible to form capable Komsomol cells in the region under consideration. The study indicates that the formation of local Komsomol structures took place under the control of the regional party leadership, which determined the main directions of their work. The work notes the lack of Komsomol personnel in the region, especially from among the mountain population, and focuses on ways to solve this problem. In addition, the article touches upon the policy of regional party and Komsomol organizations aimed at attracting hot-blooded girls to public activities. The conducted research made it possible to trace the dynamics of the number of Komsomol members, to determine its composition by social status, ethnic and gender characteristics during the period under review.

FORMATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF INDUSTRIAL GOLD MINING IN THE KARACHAY AUTONOMOUS REGION (1930S-EARLY 1940S)

The purpose of the article is to highlight the process of formation and development of industrial gold mining in the territory of the Karachay Autonomous Region in the 1930s - early 1940s. To achieve this goal, the authors used, first of all, chronological, problem–chronological, synchronistic, comparative historical, genetic methods of historical science. The results of the conducted research suggest that geological exploration in this area was organized in the early 1930s, after which, given the important state significance of this industry, the central and regional authorities took all measures to establish the extraction of precious metal in the shortest possible time. Already in the mid-1930s, gold mines began to operate in the Karachay Autonomous Region, which demonstrates the beginning of industrial gold mining during this period. The article also focuses on the problems of the development of this industry in the region under consideration. In particular, it is noted that some of the mines chronically failed to meet targets, the reasons for which were poor organization of production and labor relations of prospectors, low mechanization of production, equalizing principle of remuneration, interruptions in the supply of machinery, equipment, tools, scaffolding, unsatisfactory social and living conditions of workers, etc. At the same time, in a short period of time, the gold mining industry in the Karachay Autonomous Region has gone through a period of formation and has begun to show an increase in production indicators.

KUBAN DURING THE OCTOBER REVOLUTION AND THE ESTABLISHMENT SOVIET POWER

For a long time, research on the history of the 1917 Revolution in the Russian provinces was conducted exclusively within the framework of a unified all-Russian process and barely reflected its regional specificity. In this regard, there is a growing need for new research approaches based on the study of revolutionary development scenarios in the Russian provinces that differed from the capital and were shaped by local and regional conditions and contradictions. The article provides a comprehensive study of the socio-political development of the Kuban region during the October Revolution and the establishment of Soviet power, accounting for the influence of both internal and external factors. Based on extensive factual material, the study demonstrates that the establishment of Soviet power in the capital intensified the socio-political confrontation between the main social groups of the population: nonresident and the Cossacks. The political agenda included the liquidation of the existing, de facto narrow estate-based governance of the region, as well as the implementation of major social concessions by the Cossack leadership in favor of the nonresident majority and land-poor Cossacks. The authors conclude that the Cossack leaders demonstrated a lack of political foresight and an inability to take timely measures to ensure the consolidation of Kuban society. The unwillingness of the Cossack elite to make timely concessions regarding the agrarian question and to provide equal access to regional administration left the Regional Government and the Rada without the support of broad layers of the population. This contributed to the growth of anti-Cossack sentiment and the radicalization of the masses, who fell increasingly under the influence of Bolshevik propaganda.

ON THE RECONSTRUCTION OF CERTAIN ADYGHE BURIAL RITES OF THE LATE MIDDLE AGES: A SYNTHESIS OF NARRATIVE AND FOLKLORE MATERIALS

This article is dedicated to the study of various funeral rituals of the Adyghe people during the late medieval period (14th–16th centuries). The objective of the work is to identify certain features of the burial culture of the Adyghe in the pre-Islamic period and the fact of its preservation during the era of Islamization in the region. The topic presented is significant for understanding the key elements of traditional worldview. The materials for the research primarily consisted of field records, folkloric sources and narrative accounts from European travelers of that era. The research methodology involved narrative analysis, the comparative-historical method, textual interpretation, and ethnographic interviews. The primary result of the research is the identification of certain specific characteristics of the burial ritual of the Adyghe people. The main method of burial among the Adyghe during the indicated period was the barrow burial. The essence of this method involved interring the deceased in a wooden coffin directly on the mainland or in a shallow grave, followed by the construction of a burial mound above it. The research also indicated that numerous elements of the Adyghe burial rituals from the pre-Islamic period continued to exist even after the Adyghe transitioned to Islamic burial practices. Some of these rituals are still preserved today, being perceived in the ethnocultural consciousness as part of the Muslim funeral and burial rites.

ON THE INTERACTION OF THE ECONOMY AND THE DEMOGRAPHIC SITUATION IN THE ADYGEA AUTONOMOUS REGION IN THE 1930s

The article examines the relationship between the implementation of socialist transition and the main indicators of development of the national economy, as well as demographic processes in Adygea Autonomous Region in the 1930s. To achieve this goal, the authors primarily used documents from the National Archive of the Republic of Adygea that had not previously been put into scientific circulation, which provided both the novelty of the study and made it possible to contribute to the expansion of the source base for the history of Adygea. The collectivization of agriculture in Adygea led to a social crisis in rural areas, which was reflected not only in the famine of 1932-1933, but also in a sharp drop in the birth rate and a reduction in natural population growth, as well as other negative demographic consequences. After the annexation of Maykop to the Adygea Autonomous Region in 1936, its industry and demographic potential began to play a significant role in the region's development. Due to this, despite the difficulties associated with agricultural crisis and repression that had a direct and indirect impact on demographic and economic conditions in the city, Adygea Autonomous Region managed to enter a path of stable development by the early 1940s. However, socio-political unrest in the 1930s left a significant impact on society's demographic structure, which was reflected in the gradual deterioration in demographic indicators during the pre-war period.

THE PROBLEM OF PRESERVING THE ETHNIC IDENTITY OF THE CHERKESS DIASPORA IN THE ANKARA PROVINCE OF TURKEY

This article examines the mechanisms for preserving historical memory and ethnic identity within the Circassian diaspora of Ankara Province (Türkiye). Attention is paid to the descendants of settlers from three auls of present-day Krasnodar Krai (Urupskiy, Kurgokovskiy, and Konokovskiy), who, after 1895, created “spatial copies” of their homeland in Anatolia. The study analyzes the formation of an “imagined geography,” in which the choice of settlement sites was determined by the visual similarity of the landscape to that of the Caucasus, while indigenous Adyghe toponyms became key markers of self-identification. The author draws on oral history methods, identifying recurring narratives about heroized ancestors and a profound attachment to Heku (the Homeland). Special emphasis is placed on the analysis of the “temporary guest consciousness,” which for decades manifested itself in the refusal to undertake permanent construction and in the sacralization of everything Caucasian. The research demonstrates how, through local folklore and toponymic continuity, the diaspora maintains a connection with the Caucasus under conditions of urbanization and linguistic assimilation.

FIRST SOVIET EXPERIENCE OF GRAIN PROCUREMENT CAMPAIGN (1918–1919

In this article, the author analyzes the course of the first Soviet grain procurement campaign in 1918-1919. This issue is significant for comprehensive scientific analysis as grain procurement has not been a subject of special study by historians until now. Additionally, studying this issue based on statistical data from that period is relevant as it allows us to identify patterns in the process of forming Soviet economic policy and to trace the specifics of its implementation during the early years of Soviet rule. The aim of this research is to provide an objective analysis of the experience of the grain procurement campaign of 1918-1919. The objectives of the study include: identifying general historical patterns and factors that influenced the implementation of grain procurement campaign during the period under study; conducting a comprehensive analysis of reasons for negative experience of grain procurement; and identifying the consequences of the implementation of the state's economic policy in the early years of Soviet power. The author uses archival documents and statistical data that reflect the specific historical situation during the period under study to recreate socio-significant details of the situation in rural areas in the former Russian provinces, as well as to analyze the economic situation of peasants who were subjects of the Bolsheviks' social experiment. The author concludes that the state's regulation of economic measures was necessary and justified in prevailing socio-historical circumstances. However, forced methods of economic policy implementation, particularly grain procurement campaign, had a negative effect on the authority of new government and caused a wave of anti-Soviet uprisings across the country. The bread company implemented by the government of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic had a number of distinctive features. The main feature was the forced removal of surplus bread from producers. Representatives of the new government found themselves in a difficult situation because the issue of providing food for the population and the army was urgent. During the Civil War and the establishment of Soviet power, market methods didn't work as expected. More precisely, they worked in a peculiar way. Various types of speculators known as "bagmen" at the time, became active, buying bread from peasants at high prices. The peasant population was content with this situation and were more willing to sell their supplies to speculators rather than to the government which had fixed prices. The population was not inclined to voluntarily give up surplus of their harvest at fixed prices, as they found them too low and not in line with prices at which they had to purchase consumer goods. Industrial production had significantly decreased and the government was unable to provide rural areas with necessary amount of consumer goods. As a result, rural residents were forced to purchase these goods at speculative prices. As a result, it was logical for them to sell their agricultural products at inflated prices rather than fixed prices offered by government. In order to supply army and urban population with bread, government was forced to use a coercive mechanism in form of special requisitioning units.

DEFECTIVE AND DESTRUCTIVE COMMUNICATION AS DETERMINANTS THAT DESTROY THE COMMUNICATIVE AND LEGAL CULTURE OF YOUTH: A SOCIOLOGICAL ANALYSIS

The article examines and analyzes defective and destructive communication, which destroys the communicative and legal culture of youth. The study also examines the legislative acts of the Russian Federation regulating the communication process and ensuring the protection of the rights and freedoms of citizens, including young people. It is also noted that the Russian Federation has a system of laws regulating communications and protecting the rights of citizens, including young people, by preventing young people from accessing harmful information, and is also aimed at combating extremism and cybercrime. The main purpose of these legislative initiatives is to form a communicative and legal culture of young people in order to strengthen social stability among young people. The study presents the results of the author's sociological survey aimed at identifying the level of awareness of young people about destructive and defective communication, as well as assessing the impact of such forms of communication on the formation of a communicative and legal culture. Destructive and defective communications have a complex negative impact on society and individuals. To minimize negative effects, a systematic approach is needed, including educational, psychological, social and legal preventive measures. It is noted that the prevention of negative consequences is more effective if the center of influence is the formation of a culture of constructive communication based on legal norms. The following practical recommendations are offered: advanced training courses, practical seminars, trainings on legal communication, public speaking practice, study of legal literature and participation in professional communities. In conclusion, the article points out the relevance and importance of the system of formation of the communicative and legal culture of youth through the development of effective legal communication skills, allowing young people to better understand their rights and responsibilities, as well as interact more effectively with government, legal institutions and other participants in the legal field, which helps to achieve fair treatment and law-abiding behavior of young people in society.

VISUAL REPRESENTATION OF POLITICAL PREFERENCES OF YOUTH IN THE NORTH CAUCASUS: AN EXPERIENCE OF ALGORITHMIC AND SEMIOTIC ANALYSIS

This article, prepared as part of state assignment FSRN-2025-0010 «Marking and Classifying Political Orientations of North Caucasus Youth in Social Media» with the support of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science, presents the results of a research project dedicated to studying the visual strategies for expressing political preferences among young people in the North Caucasus Federal District. The study's methodological framework is based on a synthesis of visual social semiotics, network analysis, and computer vision methods. The empirical base consisted of 2,430 units of graphic content aggregated from public communities on the social network VKontakte and Telegram channels in all seven constituent entities of the macroregion. The analysis shows that the political discourse of young people in the macroregion is characterized by a strategy of cautious publicity and a high proportion of indirect communication (60,2 %). It has been established that the visual structure of political meaning is predominantly text-centric (76,9 % of images contain text), in which the image serves as a background for memes, quotes, and overlays. A clustered content structure was identified. The dominance of integrative modes of loyalty (patriotic photo reports, 44,2 %) is combined with a fragmented zone of indirect criticism expressed through irony and metaphor. It is concluded that the digital environment functions as a dual-use space, serving as a "safety valve" for the safe expression of reflection and the reduction of social tension.

FORMATION OF PROFESSIONAL CULTURE AND PROFESSIONAL IDENTITY: A SOCIOLOGICAL ANALYSIS OF EDUCATIONAL AND CAREER PATHS

Modern society is characterized by dynamic changes in the labor market, which actualizes a deep understanding of such sociological constructs as professional identity and professional culture. These concepts are key to analyzing how individuals integrate into the professional field, adapt to its requirements, and build their career paths. This article is an analysis of the scientific literature on these phenomena, their theoretical foundations and their relationship to career development. The paper presents a theoretical analysis of the concepts of professional identity and professional culture, as well as professional socialization and educational and career paths. Modern society is faced with an increasing complexity of career paths, which are becoming increasingly nonlinear and precarious. This requires individuals to develop flexible identities and adaptive cultures. The traditional model of a fixed, lifelong profession is giving way to the need for constant rethinking of one's professional self and the ability to repeatedly switch between roles and fields of activity. In this context, social values and professional socialization act as key mechanisms guiding the formation of identity and culture, influencing career choices, behavior, and well-being.

MOTIVATION FOR MEMBERSHIP IN THE UNIVERSITY TRADE UNION ORGANIZATION OF REPRESENTATIVES OF GENERATION Z (ON THE EXAMPLE OF STUDENTS OF THE SOUTHERN FEDERAL UNIVERSITY)

The target audience of student unions today are representatives of Generation Z. It has a number of features: low level of institutional trust, lack of interest in membership in organizations with a rigid structure, the need to be involved as opposed to formal membership, disinterest in the implementation of long-term strategies. All this makes the complex structured work of organizations with the loyalty motivation of zoomers ineffective. The purpose of this article is to identify the motivation for membership in a student union organization of representatives of Generation Z. The empirical basis of the work was the results of the author's study conducted at the Southern Federal University (November 2024 - January 2025, N = 1321 people). The results of the study revealed that students' ideas about the work of trade unions are blurred, and the motivation for membership is uncertain. The data also showed a request for opportunities for personal self-realization through activities in a trade union cell, increasing trust in the organization through the demonstration of specific successful cases, expanding possible types of support, and reformatting information support for activities. It follows from this that some established forms of work of trade union organizations require adaptation to the peculiarities of the zoomers generation. At the same time, it is important to understand that the currently recorded decrease in students' loyalty to various associations is not so much the result of the imperfection of the institutional mechanisms of their work, but rather reflects a larger trend of zoomers' involvement in various organizations and associations.

PATRIOTISM IN THE SYSTEM OF SPIRITUAL AND MORAL VALUES OF THE RUSSIAN FAMILY

The article examines the place and role of patriotism in the system of traditional and modern spiritual and moral values of the Russian family. The family, as one of the most important social institutions, is an environment where the foundations of cultural and moral values are transmitted through generations, including those that are patriotic in nature. It helps to consolidate value orientations and principles of institutional socionormativity and cultural traditions in the minds of young people. In the article, the author actualizes the importance of patriotism through the reproduction of the system of spiritual and moral family education in the context of the revival of traditional course of family policy in Russia. The main aspects of the issue of forming and consolidating patriotic values among the public and strengthening family values in society are also considered. The authors propose tools for strengthening patriotic consciousness through the application of new approaches to youth education and the creation of conditions for active participation by citizens in patriotic events, including in the framework of the implementation of family policy of the Russian state, promoting the family as the fundamental unit of society in Russia's socio-cultural sphere. Based on the analysis of secondary empirical material, an attempt is made to consider ways to strengthen patriotic consciousness in Russian family by turning to practices of education through personal examples, traditions, and cultural and historical heritage that form the respect for the Motherland among citizens and willingness to serve it within the socio-cultural space of Russia.

HIERARCHY OF IDENTITIES IN THE NORTH CAUCASUS: METHODOLOGY OF CIVIL, ETHNIC AND RELIGIOUS COMPETITION

The article is devoted to the development of a methodological approach to the analysis of the complex and dynamic hierarchy of civil, ethnic and religious identities using the example of the national republics of the North Caucasus. The relevance of the study is determined by the need for scientific understanding of the mechanisms for harmonizing interethnic relations and strengthening civil unity in a multi-ethnic and religious region. Based on the synthesis of historical-civilizational, systemic and constructivist approaches, a three-level analytical model is proposed, including normative, narrative-mythological and symbolic levels. This model allows us to explore how identities compete and complement each other in different socio-political contexts. The application of the model to the current state of the region allowed us to identify a relative balance with a partial dominance of ethno-confessional identity, especially at the level of everyday practices and historical narratives, with the formal dominance of all-Russian civic identity at the institutional level. A conclusion is drawn about the situational and constructed nature of identification hierarchies that emerged after the crisis of Soviet civic identity. The proposed methodology has significant heuristic value and can serve as a tool for monitoring identification processes and developing targeted state policy in the North Caucasus aimed at strengthening civil unity, taking into account regional diversity.
