ON THE ROLE OF B.E. KALMYKOV IN THE STATE AND POLITICAL PROCESSES IN KABARDINO-BALKARIA IN THE 1918-1920s.
The article is devoted to the study of the role of B.E. Kalmykov in the state and political processes of Kabardino-Balkaria in the 1918-1920s. He led Kabardino-Balkaria in difficult conditions of socio-economic, political, ideological and cultural transformations of the 1920s-1930s. During this period, the peoples of Kabardino-Balkaria had to master radically changed historical conditions of their existence.
The rise of B.E. Kalmykov was associated with the revolutionary, military and political upheavals in Russia in 1917-1920, when he firmly sided with the Bolsheviks, and the national-state development of the Kabardian and Balkarian peoples of the 1920s, which contributed to his formation as a national leader. B.E. Kalmykov's contribution to the protection of the interests of the peoples of Kabardino-Balkaria in the process of Soviet nation-building had a decisive impact on the state and political activities of B.E. Kalmykov, determining positions in the system of power and management. This is especially true of issues related to the preservation of the ethno-territorial integrity of Kabardino-Balkaria.
Having concentrated great power in his hands, B.E. Kalmykov had a significant influence on the nature of historical processes in Kabardino-Balkaria. In this regard, the study of his actions will contribute to a deeper understanding of the history of Kabardino-Balkaria in the 1920s and 1930s.

ON THE QUESTION OF THE DATING AND CIRCUMSTANCES OF THE INITIAL SETTLEMENT OF THE STANITSA OF GUBSKOYA AT THE FINAL STAGE OF THE CAUCASIAN WAR
This article, using archival and published documents, examines the circumstances surrounding the appearance of the village of Gubskaya on the map of the Trans-Kuban region in 1861. The author analyzes the numerical, gender, age, and religious composition of the intended and actual first settlers of this settlement, outlining the circle of individuals who contributed to its development and settlement. Particular attention is given to the little-known figure of Ensign E.P. Zabolotsky, who was responsible for transporting hunter-settlers to the Gubs River. Using this officer's service record, introduced into scholarly circulation for the first time, the author reconstructs the circumstances of his military career prior to 1861 and demonstrates his involvement in the fates of the voluntary settlers prior to their arrival at the settlement point. In conclusion, the need for continued research is noted to more accurately date the settlement of Gubskaya, which, as can now be confirmed, occurred in late July – early August 1861. An important visual addition to the work is the demographic tables and age-sex pyramids of the first Gubskaya settlers, compiled by the author based on archival materials. This publication will be useful, first and foremost, to regional studies scholars researching the Russian colonization of the Western Caucasus foothills during the final stages of the Caucasian War, specialists in historical demography, as well as archival and museum staff, teachers, students, and anyone interested in issues of the regional past.

FEATURES OF THE FUNCTIONING OF THE DISTRICT LEVEL OF PARTY ADMINISTRATION IN KARACHAY-CHERKESSIA DURING THE NEP PERIOD (THE FIRST HALF OF THE 1920s)
In the presented article, the author examines certain aspects of the history of the organizational construction of the organs of the Russian Communist Party of the Bolsheviks (RCP/b/) in the territory of Karachay-Cherkessia during the period of the new economic policy. Highlighting the early stage of the formation of the RCP (b0) apparatus in the region, the author points out that the middle link of the party administration was in its infancy and was represented by only one official position in the person of the authorized Karachay-Cherkess regional organizational Bureau (Orgburo) for a particular district (district). The objective reasons for the weakness of this link are noted, which consisted primarily in the small number of RCP(b) members in rural areas and the extremely limited budget resources of the regional party organization. The article highlights the functions of the institute of commissioners, including control over the activities of the primary organizations of the Russian Communist Party (b) (party cells in settlements and institutions), district structures of the Komsomol, interaction with the executive bodies of the Councils of Deputies, participation in joint commissions with them, general supervision of the socio-political and socio-economic situation in the district, the work of educational institutions., cultural, cooperative, and trade union structures.

SEQUENTIAL POLYGAMY OR SERIAL MONOGAMY (ON THE ISSUE OF RESEARCH PROSPECTS FOR THE SOCIOLOGICAL STUDY OF FAMILY AND MARITAL RELATIONS IN MODERN RUSSIAN SOCIETY)
This article attempts to pose the problem of the transformation of family and marriage relations in Russian society in the context of the emergence of new phenomena that require a new understanding from the perspective of Russian realities. In particular, we are talking about serial monogamy or, as this phenomenon is also called, sequential polygamy. The main purpose of this study is to show the research perspectives available to the theoretical and empirical sociology of the family in understanding current family processes in the coordinates of such modified forms of family and marital relations as sequential polygamy or serial monogamy. The need for sociological reflection on new forms of family and marriage relations in a changed world will allow us to evaluate and adjust measures of state and social regulation of family relations in Russian society. It is concluded that the source of serial monogamy (sequential polygamy) is the change in the value system, the elasticity of marital relationships, the prevalence of the idea of well-being over idealistic narratives, and the desire of spouses to achieve family happiness as the dominant value among modern Russians.

OPENNESS OF DIALOGUE AS A BASIS FOR CONSTRUCTING A POSITIVE IMAGE OF REGIONAL EXECUTIVE AUTHORITIES
The article is devoted to the analysis of the relationship between the transparency of executive authorities and the formation of their positive image in the context of modern public administration in the Russian Federation. Based on a systematic analysis of the regulatory framework, including Presidential Decree No. 601 dated May 7, 2012, and empirical data from the June-July 2025 rating of the Agency for Political and Economic Communications (APEC), the article explores the role of information transparency as a key mechanism for constructing a favorable image of regional administrations. The authors define image as a socially constructed symbolic representation that is formed through communication between the government and society, where transparency acts as an integrating factor that connects the objective effectiveness of government activities with the subjective perception of these activities by citizens. The article emphasizes that simply increasing the amount of information is not enough to improve the image; instead, real transparency is required, supported by two-way communication through social media, official websites, and the media. As a result of the study, the article presents a practice for constructing a positive image, which includes the personal representation of government officials on social media, timely information about government activities, and a focus on feedback from the public.

POSSIBILITIES AND PROSPECTS OF SOCIAL REGULATION OF THE PROCESS OF FORMATION OF PATRIOTISM AND CITIZENSHIP AMONG THE YOUTH OF NEW REGIONS OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION (BASED ON THE RESULTS OF A MASS SURVEY)
The issues of social regulation of the processes of formation of patriotism and citizenship among the youth of new territories are extremely important and need to be measured and studied sociologically. The integration of this social group into the socio-cultural space of Russian society, adaptation to new conditions and realities largely depends on the formation of its civic and patriotic identity. The article provides data from the author's sociological survey of the youth of the LPR and DPR, conducted in the spring of 2025 using a questionnaire survey. The results of the study led to the conclusion that in the minds of the youth of the new territories, patriotic and civic are closely intertwined, despite the fact that at the level of rational judgments about patriotism and citizenship, young respondents draw a line between these phenomena, do not consider their synthesis significant and necessary in the civic formation of personality. It is assumed that there is an influence of the dual nature of the social mechanism of regulation of the process of formation of the civic and patriotic identity of youth, and this nature needs further sociological study.

FAMILY IN THE STRUCTURE OF VALUES OF RUSSIAN YOUTH IN THE FOCUS OF SOCIOLOGICAL RESEARCH: THEORETICAL AND APPLIED ASPECTS
In a period of large-scale changes and crisis situations in the development of society, shifts in the structure of society's values are inevitable, which acts as a kind of indicator of the state in modern realities and a barometer of the future of society. Special attention is drawn to the structure of the values of the younger generation, which is most reactive to social changes and cataclysms. The preservation of a value base identical to the value matrix of Russian society in its socio-cultural and historical projection can be considered as the basis for a promising future society that has preserved its cultural code. An analysis of empirical sources has shown that with the current changes in the value world of young people and an increasing degree of anxiety about the possibilities of personal self-realization, the place of the meaning-forming and vital value in the hierarchy of values of Russian youth, including regional values, remains with the family. It is concluded that, despite the ambivalence of young people's value orientations, which is caused by the combination of traditional and modern (egocentric) values, the preservation and reproduction of the family institution as a meta-principle of the spiritual development of Russian society will enhance the effectiveness of the state's youth policy in the moral education of modern young people.

THE INFLUENCE OF PUBLIC OPINION ON THE FORMATION AND APPLICATION OF CRIMINAL PUNISHMENT
The article examines the influence of public opinion on the formation and application of criminal punishment. The attitude to criminal punishment is considered within the framework of such theories as social control and stigmatization theory. The theory of social control, the attitude to criminal punishment depends on the level of social control that exists in society. It is shown that according to the theory of social control, if control is high, then the attitude to criminal punishment may be more positive, since people will feel that laws are observed and that they are protected from criminals. On the other hand, if control is low, then the attitude to criminal punishment may be more negative, since members of society feel unprotected and unsure of the legality of the system.
It is shown that public opinion is not the only and main factor influencing the formation and application of criminal punishment. Decisions in this area are made on the basis of a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including legal and moral norms, economic interests, political beliefs, etc.
Public opinion has an influence on the formation and application of criminal punishment, but this influence can be limited and depends on many factors. Further research in this area will help to determine more precisely how public opinion influences criminal justice decision-making and how this influence can be strengthened or weakened.

PERSONAL SPACE: THE SEARCH FOR THEORETICAL AND METHODOLOGICAL FOUNDATIONS FOR DEFINING ITS BOUNDARIES IN THE CONTEXT OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES
The article discusses various theoretical and methodological approaches to the study of personal space boundaries: psychological, legal, cultural, and sociological. By revealing the dynamics of perceptions of personal space boundaries, the authors address the current stage of society's development, where rapid advancements in digital technologies, globalization, and the importance of security, self-determination, and privacy have become crucial factors. In the post-industrial era, personal space boundaries have undergone significant changes, encompassing not only the physical realm of human life (offline) but also the virtual realm (online). Consequently, there is a need to establish new boundaries and understand how the current generation perceives them. The analysis of existing approaches has led to the development of a system of empirical indicators for the change in personal space boundaries, which includes: 1) the level of user activity; 2) the level of digital culture; 3) the level of interpersonal and institutional trust; 4) the level of sensitivity to privacy violations; 5) the formation of digital identity; 6) the level of loyalty and openness to innovation. Based on these indicators, a mass survey of the population will be conducted in the future. This survey will provide relevant empirical data on how individuals from different socio-demographic groups define personal space boundaries, the role of online space within them, and how digital technologies are influencing the modern world.

MILITARY-PATRIOTIC EDUCATION OF YOUTH FROM DIFFERENT SOCIAL GROUPS DURING A SPECIAL MILITARY OPERATION
The purpose of this study is to substantiate the implementation of various options for correcting the policy of educational organizations in the structure of the organization of the process of military-patriotic education of young people based on a comparative analysis of the attitude of various social groups of the population (aged 18 to 27) to various aspects of patriotism in the context of the Special military operation (SVO) since 2022. Based on the author's questionnaire, a comparative analysis of the attitude of various categories of young people, namely, three social groups aged 18 to 27 (students of a civilian university in the Russian Federation, cadets who have Russian citizenship, and foreign cadets who do not have Russian citizenship), to various aspects of patriotism towards their homeland in the context of the SVO was conducted. The obtained data were digitally processed, including their visualization. The following methods were used in the study: content analysis, analysis of scientific and methodological literature, methods of comparison, observation, and generalization. Based on the comparative analysis of the attitude of various categories of young people to the issues of patriotism in the context of the special military operation, it was concluded that there are certain problems in the military-patriotic education of both civilian and military personnel. The authors propose to use the potential of modern pedagogical tools more intensively, especially in the organization of educational work in both civilian and military universities, in order to mitigate the problems of expressing patriotism towards one's homeland in the context of the special military operation.

SOCIOCULTURAL TRADITIONS AND INNOVATIVE STRATEGIES IN REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT OF RUSSIA: THEORETICAL AND METHODOLOGICAL ANALYSIS OF CLASSICAL SOCIOLOGICAL APPROACHES
The article examines the problem of combining cultural traditions and innovations in the context of Russia's course towards technological leadership and digital transformation of the economy, which is set by the federal agenda and national projects. The authors assume that the regional level is a key space where global trends and the specifics of sociocultural modernization intersect, and it is important to align sustainable cultural and institutional traditions with the requirements of the digital economy, educational reforms, and social and demographic policies. The study is based on a theoretical and conceptual analysis of classical and modern foreign and domestic approaches to traditions and innovations, as well as logical and structural modeling, which allowed the authors to build a theoretical model of the interaction between cultural traditions and innovations as factors of sustainable regional development. The article demonstrates that traditions can be viewed not only as a source of conservative resistance to change, but also as a resource for adapting and legitimizing innovations, while innovations are understood as the result of complex processes of local borrowing, translation, and integration into existing sociocultural structures.

STUDENTS' ATTITUDE TO THE PROBLEM OF CORRUPTION AT THE UNIVERSITY
The article examines the content of the concept of "corruption" in the context of the educational environment, and analyzes its causes, manifestations, and consequences. The author attempts to assess the damage caused to society by corrupt practices, and emphasizes the need to focus not only on combating specific offenders, but also on systemic measures to combat corruption as a phenomenon. Corruption is a complex and multifaceted social evil that manifests itself in the abuse of official positions for personal gain by individuals in positions of authority. As a criminal and illegal act, corruption is highly antisocial, along with such phenomena as drug addiction and parasitism. Corruption not only distorts interpersonal relationships, but also undermines the foundations of public trust, contributing to the degradation of social institutions. Its presence in any sphere of public life serves as an indicator of a deep systemic crisis. Of particular concern is the widespread corruption in social interactions, which raises doubts among experts about the real effectiveness of the anti-corruption measures being taken. According to the majority of respondents, sustainable changes are possible only if comprehensive reforms are carried out, not only in the field of education, but also in all other social areas affected by corruption.

TERRITORIAL BRANDING IN THE STRUCTURE OF RUSSIAN IDENTITY
The article is devoted to the sociocultural analysis of the influence of regional branding on the strengthening of civic and regional identity on the example of the Republic of Adygeya. The theoretical part clarifies the substantive boundaries of the concepts of "Russian identity", "regional identity", "patriotism" and "brand of the region" based on classical sociology and developments of the Federal Research Sociological Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences (FNSC RAS). The empirical basis of the study consists of secondary data from all–Russian surveys conducted by the All-Russian Center for the Study of Public Opinion (VTsIOM) and the Public Opinion Foundation (POM) in 2023-2025, as well as official statistics on the socio-demographic development and tourism industry of Adygea. Based on the analysis of the results of All-Russian sociological surveys, it is concluded that a regional brand based on the multinational nature, cultural heritage and tourist attractiveness of the territory contributes to the transformation of abstract civic pride into pride in the "small homeland", strengthens the territorial attachment of residents and, thereby, integrates into the structure of Russian civic identity without entering into competition with national symbols.

THE CONSOLIDATION POTENTIAL OF SOCIAL NETWORK COMMUNICATIONS AS AN INTERDISCIPLINARY PHENOMENON
This article provides a comprehensive scientific analysis of the consolidation potential of social network communications. The thesis presents data from a number of studies dedicated to describing the ability of social platforms to unite individuals around common interests, values, and goals. The article identifies key mechanisms of this consolidation, such as algorithmic clustering and horizontal communication. It emphasizes the role of hashtags and viral content in the formation of collective identity and rapid mobilization. The author examines in detail the manifestation of this potential in socio-political and socio-cultural spheres. Particular attention is paid to the ambivalence of the phenomenon, which carries both positive and destructive possibilities. The risks, including societal fragmentation and the spread of disinformation, are analyzed.
Furthermore, the article develops the topic by presenting an interdisciplinary perspective on the phenomenon under study. It systematizes and summarizes the contribution of various sciences—from sociology and political science to computer science and psychology—to its study. A clear chronology of the stages of scientific understanding of the problem is presented: from initial optimism to a critical turn and contemporary systemic analysis. The evolution of key concepts, from the "Twitter Revolution" to "filter bubbles" and "algorithmic governance," is described. The author concludes that the consolidation potential is an integral and contradictory feature of network society. In conclusion, it is emphasized that its ultimate vector depends on the complex interaction of technologies, actor goals, and regulation.

THE INFLUENCE OF THE INTERNET ENVIRONMENT ON THE CULTURAL MARGINALITY OF STUDENT YOUTH IN THE CONTEXT OF SOCIO-POLITICAL SECURITY IN THE SOUTH OF RUSSIA
The relevance of the study is manifested in the fact that the modern information society in Russia, in particular in the South of Russia, is characterized by the rapid development of communication technologies that have a powerful impact on various spheres of life, including the formation of the cultural identity of young people. In the context of globalization and digitalization, the Internet environment is the main factor that shapes the patterns of behavior, values and, as a result, the cultural marginality of student youth in the context of socio-political security. Studying the mechanisms of this action and developing recommendations to reduce its negative manifestations are the most important tasks for sociological science and practice. The main research method was an interdisciplinary approach that combined the principles of system analysis and the structural-functional method. The key empirical method in the work was the author's sociological study (questionnaire survey), which was conducted in April - June 2025. The sample size was 384 respondents (students of 1-4 full-time education courses in humanitarian and technical specialties). The study was conducted in the South of Russia (universities of the South of Russia in the cities of Rostov-on-Don (SFU, RANEPA)), Krasnodar (KUBGU)), Stavropol (STAVGU)). The work used a multi-stage quota sample, representative of gender, age and training profile. The study also used content analysis of the most popular communities among young people in the South of Russia in the Internet environment, and used analysis of data from sociological studies by World Public Opinion Research Center (WPORC).

CAREER TRACES: INTERACTION BETWEEN THE INDIVIDUAL AND SOCIAL STRUCTURES
This article presents analysis of career as a complex social process shaped by the intersection of individual strategies and institutional conditions. Career is viewed not only as a professional path but also as a form of social mobility reflecting changes in an individual's status and role. It is emphasized that career is the result of the interaction of multiple factors: personal qualities, cultural norms, economic conditions, gender, age, social capital, and origin. This approach allows us to interpret career as a social construct sensitive to social changes, especially in an unstable labor market. A typology of career trajectories is considered: traditional, pragmatic, transformative, and adventurous models. These scenarios reflect individual adaptation strategies, risk tolerance, and the desire for self-determination. Formal and informal mechanisms of career advancement are analyzed, ranging from professional standards to the influence of social connections and internal organizational policies. This article emphasizes the need for a comprehensive, integrative approach to career research that considers not only objective structural constraints and social conditions but also the subjective motivations, goals, and value orientations of each individual. Thus, a career is presented as a unique trajectory dependent on many variables and requires analysis in the context of social dynamics and individual choice.

CAUCASIAN COMMUNITIES: SOCIO-CULTURAL SPECIFICITIES
This article examines he socio-cultural specifics of ethnic communities with an emphasis on the mentality of the peoples of the Caucasus in the context of historical, cultural, natural and geographical factors. The main theoretical approaches to the concept of mentality, including primordialism, constructivism and a sociobiological approach, are analyzed, and the interdisciplinary nature of the issues under study is emphasized. Special attention is paid to the influence of the natural environment on the formation of ethnic identity and social structures, as well as the relationship between traditional norms, legal awareness and collective self-identification. It is noted that the natural conditions, in particular the mountainous landscape, significantly affected the social stratification and economic dependence of the highlanders on the lowland population, which has the best resources for agricultural activities. Despite the fact that in modern conditions such dependence is rather symbolic in nature, its cultural heritage continues to influence social attitudes.
The features of ethnic consolidation, legal ambivalence, ethnogenetic connections and cultural codes of the peoples of the North Caucasus are highlighted. The conclusion is made about the importance of the natural landscape, interethnic interactions and historical memory in the formation of stable mental attitudes and socio-cultural patterns of behavior.

MILITARY PERSONNEL AS AGENTS OF SOCIALIZATION OF TEENAGERS IN MODERN RUSSIA
Amid the ongoing special military operation, information warfare, and external sanctions pressure, Russian society is confronted with new challenges in fostering civic identity and patriotism among the younger generation. Traditional institutions of socialization—such as the family and the school—are losing their influence due to the vast amount of misinformation that adolescents receive from various informational sources. This circumstance highlights the particularly important role of military members as agents of socialization.
This article examines the potential of military members to promote positive attitudes towards the state, instill patriotic values, and develop resilience to information attacks among teenagers and youth. The primary emphasis is placed on the idea that, due to their authority, experience, and personal example, military members can partially compensate for the declining influence of primary agents of socialization. Historical aspects of the Soviet upbringing system are considered, where military members served as crucial role models for emulation and in shaping civic virtues and patriotism. The article also analyzes Ukrainian and North Korean experiences, which underscore the ideological function of the armed forces in youth education.
Special attention is paid to the necessity of expanding youth outreach, organizing meetings, involving military members in educational activities, and strengthening cooperation with the media to create a positive image of Russian military personnel. The author concludes that there is an urgent need to develop effective state programs and to integrate the best historical and foreign practices. Such measures will increase the effectiveness of military-patriotic education, strengthen national unity, and foster in the younger generation an active civic stance and resilience against external manipulative influences on their consciousness.
